2.  Superintendent, Parks and Recreation; up to $73,043/salary 

The Parks and Recreation Department is one of the many essential services provided by the City of Elkhart. Today, Elkhart’s parks system is made up of over 30 parks, including expansive greenspaces, playground equipment, trails, indoor/outdoor pavilions, ice and water parks, and a softball complex.

These amenities play an important role in the City’s quality of place and are increasingly tied to economic vitality, serving as a recruitment tool for future residents and employers.

The City of Elkhart is looking for a qualified and collaborative individual to serve as Park Superintendent. This person must provide a vision for the department that emphasizes the combined social, health, and economic benefits of a strong parks system. This individual would manage all activities and functions of the Department including all parks and aquatics facilities, recreation and athletic programs, special events, and community outreach.

The job entails a number of tasks and duties, which involve broad functions and processes of an administrative and professional nature, requiring decision-making and analysis. The position requires regular contact with City officials, employees, and community members in situations which require considerable tact and judgment.

The position is responsible for providing clear and organized structure that allows the department to grow and provide exceptional recreational services to the community. Incumbent is also responsible for cultivating a department that thrives on innovation, teamwork, efficiency, and fun.

Salary $60,000 - $73,043 depending on experience, plus full medical, dental insurance, paid holidays, vacation and PTO.  See job description for more detail and position requirements.
