You can still sign up for auto debit through our office or pay your bill through your banking institution.

To start water & sewer service, you need to do so in person at the Utility Billing Office. You may download the application and bring it with you. New service sign-up are done between 8:30 am & 4:30 pm.

New!WATER SALESMAN NOW OPEN!Water Salesman Customer

Elkhart Public Works and Utilities is happy to announce the grand opening of our Water Salesman Drive. Water Salesman provides drive–up access to a bulk water vending machine. Large quantities of water can be purchased for hundreds of gallons on the dollar; 24/7/365 for just a few quarters. Or you can buy a prepaid card which can be purchased at the Billing Office also located at 1201 S. Nappanee Street 8:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Customers can provide their own 2½ ” fire hose, one can be purchased, or you can borrow one from us in exchange for leaving your Driver License with us (only during working hours).

Pay Your Bill

There are several convenient ways to pay your water/sewer bill: 

1. In person at the Billing Office with cash, check or money order, or credit or debit cards.

2. You may sign-up for Auto Debit. The Auto Debit form may be obtained at the Billing Office or online by clicking here. Your payment will automatically be deducted from your bank account each month. If you need to sign-up or transfer service, you will have to come into the office. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Billing Office at 264-4273.  

3. The Billing Office has a 24-hour payment drop that accepts checks or money orders located by the drive-up window on the north side of the building. Payments made before 8:00 am will be processed before disconnections for non-payment are worked.

4. Online or by phone (1-855-985-1102) with a credit card, debit card or electronic check.

Elkhart Public Utilities is pleased to offer customers two quick and easy ways to make Utility account bill payments by credit card (VISA, MasterCard and Discover), debit card and e-Check. Invoice Cloud is a third party automated payment service that accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and e-Check.  

You can pay your bill anytime, 24 hours a day 7 days a week  


Invoice Cloud will charge a $2.75 convenience fee for each transaction up to $400

Multiple transactions may be made 

Warning: If incorrect bank information is entered the Utility will not receive your payment. This will result in a charge to your account and you may also incur late fees.

Do you know that Elkhart Public Utilities might owe you money? When you open your account you pay a deposit. The Utilities keeps that money for you and may apply it to your last bill when you close your account. Sometimes there is money left over and the Utility does not have a forwarding address to use to return your remaining deposit. Click here to see if your name is on your the list.
