WWTP Expansion

WWTP Expansion

DLZ has designed upgrades to the WWTP to increase the peak wet weather capacity. This multi-year, multi-phase project will kick off upgrades to the headworks facility and construction of Ultra-Violet disinfection by Kokosing Construction Co.

The first phase of the City’s expansion of the WWTP, and will include installation of a new UV disinfection process to eliminate chlorine treatment, upgrades to the North Interceptor Lift Station, revamping of headworks, a new vortex grit removal system, and numerous other improvements.  This project is the first phase of a multi-phase project, over a number of years, which will eventually increase the plant’s peak capacity from 44 MGD to 60 MGD, as required by the City’s Long Term Control Plan.  The peak capacity is not for everyday treatment of sewage, but is specifically designed to accommodate the additional volume of water resulting from storm events, thus reducing the volume of untreated sewage entering the City’s waterways.
